Advantages of Face Bricks

Aesthetic Appeal

Face Bricks Offer a natural and classic look, with a host Of beautiful colors and textures to choose from providing a visually appealing look for your next building.

Durable and low maintenance

Since face bricks are manufactured  under extreme temperatures they have proven to be durable and weather resistant. Requiring  little maintenance to maintain its facade.

Environmentally Friendly

Face bricks are made from natural materials and can be recycled or reburned at the end of their lifespan, making them an eco-friendly choice.

Energy Efficiency

Face bricks have excellent thermal properties, helping to regulate indoor temperatures and reduce energy consumption for heating and cooling.

Sound Insulation

Face bricks provide good sound insulation, creating quieter indoor environments by reducing noise transmission from outside.

Disadvantages of Face Bricks

Higher upfront cost

Because face bricks are selected for appearance, colour, quality and finish, they often cost more than standard structural bricks or cheaper wall coverings. While they may save on maintenance, the initial investment can be higher.

Moisture and detailing issues

If the masonry, flashing, insulation and mortar joints are not designed and built to standard, moisture can penetrate. Some face bricks (especially lower-quality ones) may absorb more moisture, which can lead to problems like efflorescence (white hue) appearing on the face of the brick or freeze/thaw damage in colder climates.

So how do you decide?

It all depends on what your vision is for your home or building. If your focus is Low maintenance, appearance and durability face brick is the obvious choice. However ensure that your contractor or builder knows how to build using face bricks so you can reap the benefits and avoid the disadvantages.
