How to Seal Your Paving?

Step 1: Choose the Right Sealant

There are different types of sealants available, depending on your paving material and the desired finish:

Solvent-Based Sealers: Provide a glossy finish and deeper color enhancement.

Water-Based Sealers: Offer a more natural look with lower VOC emissions.

Penetrating Sealers: Absorb into the paving for long-lasting protection without altering appearance.

Ensure the sealant is suitable for your paving type (concrete, clay bricks, or natural stone).

Step 2: Clean the Paving Surface

Before sealing, remove all dirt, stains, moss, and weeds:

Sweep thoroughly to clear loose debris.

Use a pressure washer to remove deep-seated grime and stains.

Apply a degreaser for oil stains and scrub with a stiff brush.

Let the surface dry completely for at least 24-48 hours before applying the sealant.

Step 3: Seal your paving.

Check the Weather: Choose a dry day with no rain forecast for at least 24 hours.

Use a Sprayer or Roller: Apply the sealant evenly across the surface. A sprayer covers large areas efficiently, while a roller ensures deeper penetration.

Apply a Thin First Coat: Avoid over-application to prevent a sticky or patchy finish.

Let it Dry: Allow 2-4 hours for the first coat to dry before applying a second layer if needed.

Step 4: Allow Proper Curing Time

Avoid walking or driving on the surface for 24-48 hours to allow full curing.

Do not wash the paving for at least 5-7 days after sealing.

How Often Should You Reseal?

High-traffic areas: Reseal every 1-2 years.

Low-traffic areas: Reseal every 3-5 years.

Check for signs of wear: If the paving looks dull, absorbs water, or stains easily, it’s time to reapply a sealant.
